Staying Healthy During the Holiday Season
If you are planning to travel:
- Make sure you and your family are up to date with your Covid-19 vaccines before you travel.
- Consider getting tested before travel. The USPS is offering free at-home Covid tests.
- Be vigilant about following the CDC’s recommendations for wearing masks in travel and public transportation settings.
- Get tested after travel especially if your travel involves situations with greater risk of exposure like being in crowded places while not wearing a high-quality mask.
If you are planning to stay in town:
- Remember that Los Angeles County is experiencing high rates of COVID-19, flu, and RSV.
- LACDPH recommends that everyone ages 2 and older should wear a mask in indoor public spaces to both protect others and avoid getting sick and spreading these viruses until respiratory illness rates decline. This includes transit, retail, event venues, schools, and worksites when around others. More information on when you need to wear a mask is here.
- Stay home and isolate if sick and take an at-home COVID test.
- If you test positive for COVID-19, stay home for at least five days and isolate from others in your home. You are likely to be the most infectious during these first five days.
- Wear a high-quality mask if you must be around others at home and in public.
- Do not go places where you are unable to wear a mask.
- Monitor your symptoms. If you have an emergency warning sign (like trouble breathing), seek emergency medical care immediately.

- Spend time outside.
- Engage in physical activity at least three times a week for 30 minutes.
- Connect with loved ones virtually or in-person.
- Get your COVID and flu vaccines to protect yourself and your community.
- Practice breathing exercises to manage stress and for your emotional health.
Return-to-School COVID Testing
All Walden students are required to submit a negative PCR COVID test result before returning to school from winter break.
We will be offering testing on Monday, January 9, 2023 in carline at the solar panel gate from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please sign up here for a slot.
If you choose to get your student(s) tested at a different lab, please email the test result to pandemic_coordinator@waldenschool.net by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, in order for your child to be able to attend school the following day. We can only accept PCR test results from a lab, not home test kit results.
Students attending Pre-K or K-6 Village for in-service care on January 9 will need to be tested within 72 hours prior to attending care.
