Dear Walden Families,
Thank you to everyone who made last week's Book Fair and Story Fest a success! It was a wonderful event celebrating Walden's love of storytelling, writing, and reading, and we are grateful to all volunteers and attendees for creating a meaningful school-home connection through your support of this annual Walden favorite.
Next Friday, March 15, our Director of Annual Giving, Ludia Chae-Zerrudo, begins her maternity leave to prepare to welcome a new addition to her family. She will be on leave through the end of the school year, and we look forward to welcoming her back to Walden in July. I know I speak for Ludia when I say thank you to all who made your Walden Fund donations prior to her leave, as this not only benefits our entire school community but also provides her with peace of mind during her absence.
The health, safety, and well-being of our students remain our top priority, and this week I have been in communication with our local independent school network, CAIS, and NAIS regarding the school's responses to COVID-19. In light of Pasadena's recent declaration of a local health emergency, Walden is closely monitoring the situation surrounding the COVID-19 coronavirus. We continue to follow the information and resources shared by the local health departments and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At this point, we want to assure families that we are taking all the essential precautions, including an increase in daily cleaning protocols. There are protocols in place to respond to any outbreak of communicable diseases within our school.
Below, we are including resources and links to help support your conversations at home about this topic. Thank you for partnering with us to keep all of our students healthy. We will continue to keep you updated with any additional information as needed.
