My Education and Teaching/Professional Background

I graduated from Fordham University in 2020, where I studied Political Science and French. I worked with students in various settings in college through Peer Health Exchange, a program that partnered college students with local schools to provide health education. I also lead long-term gardening workshops to local elementary aged students at a Bronx community garden. In the year after graduation, I was a private home school educator to several students as well as a full-time tutor to elementary-aged students.

I Believe in Progressive Education Because ...

It fosters a wholesome, child-led learning experience, weighing equally the academic and social-emotional growth of young students. The progressive education I believe in, and which Walden embodies, emphasizes social responsibility and empowers each student's unique perspectives and creativity through inquiry and collaboration.

What I Love About Walden

The administration trusts its faculty and students to follow their imaginations both within and outside the classroom so that the students' learning is very much child-centered. It's been exciting to see students' creativity bolstered in the classroom and outside it, from choosing a class animal and reimagining it with clay, to running a mud-kitchen at lunch, to planting a native garden of the students' choosing in Science.

My Joy

I care about the environment and environmental justice. I love to garden and make ceramics - playing with mud in all forms is my hobby.

Fun Fact About Me

These last few years have been rich for me. I've been lucky enough to become an aunt! I have a two year old nephew and two nieces on the way this Fall and Winter. Watching him grow has been such a joy to my whole family, and I can't wait to meet my nieces once they arrive.
