My Education and Teaching/Professional Background

I have a BA in Liberal Studies concentrating on Human Development; Conflict; and Writing. I’ve been a teacher for about nine years, teaching a variety of ages and stages of development. Teaching is something that has really called to me, as I enjoy watching children learn how to navigate in the world around them. To watch them learn through their own experiences and develop a sense of self, showing through their actions that they are learning what empathy means, and learning how to be members of a community. It's an empowering feeling, knowing that I have helped them to achieve greatness.

I Believe in Progressive Education Because ...

I believe in learning by doing and I believe in seeing children as a whole, seeing them for where they are right now and not who we believe they should be. I believe in learning that expands and challenges the mind through activities of exploration and experimentation. Being a progressive educator helps to provide lessons of empathy, teaching children about respect, diversity and community building.

What I Love About Walden

I love that Walden is a community and teaches about what it means to be a part of a community. With that comes the lesson of kindness and what that powerful word means and feels like.

My Joy

Art. During my free time I create a lot of art, whether through painting, drawing, or mixed mediums. Art has always been a big passion of mine and I continue to embrace my artistic self and abilities.

Fun Fact About Me
