Emily Buttner

K-6 Village Teacher

My Education and Teaching/Professional Background

I received my BFA in Interior Design from Pratt Institute along with studying Urban Design in Copenhagen. I have working experience in libraries, architecture firms, teaching in art studios, and urban research!

I am a Progressive Educator Because...

I bring a wide variety of experiences educationally, professionally, and through lived experiences. The common themes to all these things are my love for art, exploration, joy, and learning which is what I try to bring to Walden and my students every day!

What I Love About Walden

What I love about Walden is the ability to really get to know all my students and the freedom I have to be creative and learn with them.

My Joy

My joy in my personal life is working on endless amounts of projects at home, that probably wont get finished but I love teaching myself new things and trying them out. Reading and writing are always constants in my life.

Fun Fact About Me

I'm a Jersey girl new to California!

Book Recommendation for Students

My favorite books growing up were "The Story of Ferdinand the Bull," Shel Silverstein poems, and "Harold and the Purple Crayon."
