I Believe in Progressive Education Because ...

It is based on up-to-date best practices that are proven for the ultimate student learning and development of a whole child. The word "progressive" may have a different meaning for each educator, but we all share in a commitment to student-centered learning and developing stewards for the world.

What I Love About Walden

I love that the Walden community is like a second home and the people are like family.

My Favorite Walden Tradition

The 6th grade graduation is my favorite tradition because it is the culminating experience where we see the Student Learning Outcomes come full circle. We witness every student delivers a speech that demonstrates how articulate and insightful they are, and they inspire us all.

Best Teaching Moment

For me, the best teaching moment happens every year at the 6th grade Inquiry Fair. The students have studied relevant questions in our lives and everyone learns from them. They become activists, encouraging the community, children and adults, to be informed and take action for social and environmental justice. The best teaching moment is when students teach us.

Professional Development

Two weeks of Writing and Social Studies Workshops at The Teacher's College in NYC; one week of Reading Workshop with Growing Educators; one week of Singapore Math; one week of Differentiated Instruction; two weeks studying the ancient Greeks through their art and architecture in Athens and Samos; many day workshops for up-to-date innovate teaching practices

My Joy

In my personal life I am passionate about dancing. Before becoming a new mom, I would take classes at a local studio a couple of times a week, and now I dance every morning with my bundle of joy in my arms.

Fun Fact About Me

I grew up in New Hampshire, and I love to camp and hike.
