Summer Camp 2024

A few exciting summer camps will be coming to Walden this year!

We are thrilled to share our campus with Steve and Kate's Camp for eight weeks of camp. Steve and Kate's philosophy of putting kids in charge of their own learning experience is a strong match for Walden that builds on and extends the deliberate work that takes place in our classrooms throughout the year.

In select weeks in July and August, Walden teachers will offer themed weeks of one-week camps!

Picture Process Camp for Grades 3rd and Up
August 12-16

Want to create your own original artwork?!

We will study drawing and printmaking, two disciplines within the creative arts that historically are used to communicate ideas.  We will spend mornings focusing on drawing exercises and discussion.  The afternoon will then be spent learning and exploring a print process based/inspired on the morning’s exercise.  Together, we will learn about form, communication, history, and process.

Students will be encouraged to explore print processes, drawing exercises, and ideas within their work, supporting the idea of child-led inquiry and problem solving.   We will also be having group discussions about our work, leading students to verbalize their ideas and draw connections between written/spoken language and visual communication.  We will be respectful of one another’s ideas, cultures, and learning, fostering an environment in which each student can learn and retain their own sense of wonder and personal dignity.

Teacher: Paolo Marino
Age Group: Students entering grades 3-7
Fee: $400/week. Please contact the instructor to inquire about the availability of financial assistance.

Snacks will be provided.
