2026 Spring Sing: Musicals in Motion

This year’s Spring Sing, Musicals in Motion, brought an evening of energy, performance, and movement to the stage at the Manoukian Performing Arts Center. From Pre-K through 6th grade, every student participated in this annual tradition, performing songs and choreography inspired by well-known musicals.

Audiences enjoyed selections including "Do Re Mi" and "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music, "Hakuna Matata" from The Lion King, and "Nonstop" from Hamilton, among others. Each performance captured the energy of these musicals while highlighting the creativity and collaboration of Walden students.

In true Walden fashion, each performance centered on student participation, giving students a platform to express themselves, take creative risks, and contribute to a shared artistic experience. Students combined singing, dancing, and live musical elements to create layered, engaging performances. Pre-K students opened the evening with "You’ve Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story, sharing the song through joyful singing and choreographed gestures, while older students took on increasingly complex choreography and musical arrangements. Several pieces featured cross-class collaboration, with one class providing live music while another performed choreography, reinforcing the community-centered nature of the event.

Students also incorporated aerial arts into the performance, using silks and hoops to extend the theme of motion into the air. Both individual and paired performances demonstrated impressive strength and coordination, adding a striking visual element to the program.

A sincere thank you to Alejandro and Trevor for their leadership and vision in bringing this production together. Thank you to Sam and our Specialty teachers for their essential support with stage crew and production coordination. Thank you to our 6th grade mentors for introducing their mentor classes as confident public speakers. Finally, thank you to all faculty and staff for their collective effort, and to our families for showing up as such an engaged and supportive audience.
