Honorees

Anna Badel and Stephanie Townes

We are honoring Anna Badel and Stephanie Townes for more than 30 years of remarkable service to Walden. Their talents and efforts played an integral role in making Walden the vibrant progressive school it is today.

Stephanie began teaching at Walden in 1984 and Anna joined in 1987. Both have been part of Walden's journey from the basement location on Altadena Drive to the campus we occupy today. Stephanie began as a Pre-K teacher, and, after more than a quarter century as a K/1 lead teacher, is now the Storyteller-in-Residence; she was also a founding member of Walden Equity. Anna has taught K/1, 1/2, 2/3, 3rd and 6th grade in her time at Walden; she has been a Core coordinator and program administrator. Both have served on the Board of Trustees and on several committees, including hiring, curriculum, admissions, head search, CAIS accreditation, and strategic planning.

They have also seen their children (Stephanie even her grandchildren) thrive at Walden, and spent their careers bringing our mission and values to life in the classroom every day. We are proud and delighted to honor Anna and Stephanie as the longest-serving members of our faculty for their dedicated service and commitment to Walden.
